Who is Coating their digital print? What are you using? Why are you using it? What is the most cost effective? Not all coatings work well, who knows of some don't uses?
We laminate and use the Nexglosser to very good success. We used to send out our iGen3 output to a UV coater with limited success. Problems were bubbling and burning out of magenta.
Our customers seem to like the Nexglosser quite a bit lately, and added a second glosser. We do a lot of film laminating as well mostly 2 sided.
Toner adhesion is not a problem, and the new options with the clear toners announced at Drupa make it really interesting to see what comes down the pipe here soon.
We occasionally run digital sheets back through our 29" press for aqueous coating but only for matching offset feel or customer requirements.
I've looked at all the UV roll coaters for digital at Drupa and can't seem to justify any of them compared to the Nexglosser and our film laminator.
Of course, customers drive everything, so if a customer asks for UV, and we can't convince them to go glosser, might be a different story.
