Full Version: Scratching / Registration

I have had a chance over the past several year to be certified on and run Nexpress / Igen / Indigo. I have had many issues with HP, my biggest problem, and I assume everybody's, is the Durability of the image on the paper. The Ink/Toner Scratched off incredably easy. I have talked and talked and talked with HP and they really don't see it as a problem yet we have to reprint and trash jobs all the time for this. They recommended, Watching the temperature settings, changing the lay down order, hitting the blanket with an extra hit of heat. We have gotten mixed results with doing these things. Ultimately it is unacceptable and HP doesn't seem interested in fixing it.

Is anyone else fighting this or have resolved it.

Also, we are forever fighting color to color registration problems. It is always the first color down and on the back side. HP has done many things and say it is within spec but on reversed tight text it just don't fly. We have learn to live with it and work around it.

Is anyone fighting this as well??

Lastly, Is it just me or are the Indigos high maintenance?? Igen is quick and easy, very little down time. Nexpress is reasonable most of the time. But these Indigos just never seem to stay running unless you are running one or similar jobs on the same stock..... mellow.gif

We have all these problems on our both our machines the 3050 and the 5000... We also have and Igen3.

Thanks!

Dale,

Not having an Indigo, not sure how much this helps, but at Drupa, HP talked about how much more the 7000 was better at these issues then the 5000. So it sounds like they are admitting it from a sales perspective but not from a service perspective.

Maybe a trade-in / up to a 7000 could be worked out? I'd be curious for my own reasons, if the 7000 is truly better then the 5000 because I have my doubts.

Let us know how it goes.

7000 will cost Almost double the price from what I seen from DRUPA. Also, They have told me that they did not do anything to directly fix the problem but did day that some of the other enhancements will naturally help this, it's just how much I what to know and double the cost it better..

It was interesting to watch the PODI webinar regarding the releases all the major plays had. What I got out of it was 3 things - Speed cost..... Inkjet technology is coming up quick.... and the quality of the major players is leveling out..

Thanks Patrick!
