Full Version: Do you force your customers to design for the digital press?

Some digital presses require specific design considerations which the vendors publish their Designing for Digital books.

Do you "force" your customers to design for digital, and get the most out of the digital press? Or do you "fix" the files to be optimized for digital?

Do you use a workflow solution to help with this process?

Yes, We TRY to get our customers to design for Digital print but not all do. Xerox just released a new Design of DIgital book you can download (in May 2006), They did an outstanding job with it.. Reality is you will always have a customer who is winging it so you will always need to be educating them and youe will always need to preflight your files.. Client need to know that just because it looks one way on the screen doesn't mean it will print that way.....

What I have set up here is I have PC with a semi calibrated monitor no top of the Igen and I have my operators open the document they are printing up on that monitor to compare their printed piece to. It is NOT for exact color match but rather for refference purposes for the general look and feel of the piece. THis has been extremely helpful and has save countless reruns... THings like reversed type that is speced as overprint. Pantone colors named incorrectly, tranparency issues are some of the things it will allow you to catch...

If you just go to the Service Bulletins at Global Services Network web site, it is a free download there if you are a xerox customer.
