Full Version: How do you choose a VDP application?

I have been demo-ing each of the latest VDP applications available for both Mac & PC. We are going to be purchasing a color printer & RIP - TBD once we decide on an application. Anyone have any technical feedback on the apps they use? They all seem to do what we need - full color variable postcards. What are your thoughts on PrintShop Mail, FusionPro, XMPie, Darwin, or DesignMerge?

Thanks!

Wow, that's a huge ask...

Simple entry level apps are FusionPro, XmPie's low cost solution I can't remember the name of, and Creo's Darwin, Designmerge.

I've used them all, and right now we are using FusionPro for most of our simple stuff. We hand code VIPP for the more complex VI apps. FusionPro can do the more complex apps, just need to convert our stuff to javascript and learn the structure FusionPro uses.

At $400 you can't beat the risk of trying FusionPro. Other solutions are far more costly and basically do the same thing less the javascript programming. Plus FusionPro includes a wonderful little imposition app that most charge much more for, or don't even have that feature.
