Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to purchase a digital production machine, more specifically the BizHub Pro C6500. This machine allows for various set ups however I'm looking at having the base unit, large capacity trays as well as the finisher (2 folds, hole punch and stapling)....with possibly upgrading in the future to the Perfect bind unit and the 6 fold finisher.....although not right now!!!

I was wondering if anyone has heard of anything on this machine, knows of anyone who has one, the quality of output etc...the more information and comments (good and bad) I can find on this the better...will certainly help in the decision making process.

Thanks! rolleyes.gif

Hi there

We are also looking to get the same machine, so if you had any feedback since this post, I would like to hear what you have decided on.

We decided to go with the C5500...which is basically the same machine....C6500 allows for more future upgrades. We had tested the C6500 prior to getting the 5500 and both have great color quality. I do find gradients have more banding, however mostly in the light colors.....not something that was an issue with us. For the price this machine has the speed and quality - definitely worht the look...maybe a demo test!!

Overall great machine - have had it now for a few months and it has allowed us to take on more digital print projects...no issues as of this point in time!

Good Luck!

We found the C6500 ran well after it had a tune up but the print quality and image on paper registration degraded rather quickly. We were running it along side our Xerox DC8000 so after a while I really only used the C6500 for it's solid black.

For office quality print it would be the way to go but for high quality work I'd have to say no.

We have since purchased an iGen3 so now the DC8000 get's very little use and the C6500 has been put into storage.

I would say yes that it doesn't compare to the iGen.....in my opinion, these are two complete different levels and really can't be compared to another. iGen is by far a better machine, but for an intro or faster machine then most older machines, then the C6500 is a good buy. We run mostly 12pt and 14pt card stock on our machine and registration has been perfect ever since. We have received a lot of comments on the quality of color as well.

It's definitely a good machine, but not close to the level of the much higher end ones....and of course price is much higher on those!!

I can't just lurk on this subject. My apologies because I work as an analyst for Ricoh and so I have a vested interest but anyone looking at any of the color printers mentioned above ought to check out the 90ppm Ricoh C900.

http://ricoh-usa.com/ppbg/products/product...oh%20Pro%20C900

It's got great accurate color, handles alot of heavy substrates up to 300gsm without slowing down and offers a bunch of input/output options which are also field upgradable.

Ok, again sorry for the sales pitch but I would be happy to field any questions about it or Ricoh's Production Printing Group.
