Anyone doing the new 4state barcoding in fusion pro yet. I hear it will be mandated by year end and want to know how and how much$ that will be done.
Anybody looking into this yet?
Thanks!

regarding fusion pro, i suspect that eventually they will support them, and we will probably all just need to spend the $400 for a new copy.

As of January 2009 they will be manditory from what I am hearing and I am hearing the change over is not cheap... The font itself will be expensive and to upgrade inkjets will be outrageous as well.. I know you can use them now so I thought I would check to see who's using them..

I thought FusionPro 5.x could do the 4 state barcode? I think it was added in 4.2.

Dale,
I can now confirm that Fusion Pro 5.1 supports the new 4 state / intelligent / or whatever we are calling it now bar codes. From the looks of it you can use either the font provided by printable or the postal font. It looks like it is capable of using either the encoded data or doing the encoding of the data.
Since your original post we have now had a handful of jobs go through that required the new bar code. For each we did the encoding in Fusion Pro and used the provided font. It worked pretty well. Generating a bar code that we do not have the ability to read has been a royal pain though! The post office has been good as far as effort goes in resolving issues related to the bar code; however, they do not have all the tools fully developed or deployed to make things easy and convenient.
Cheers,
John
