Hey all! I'm running Steriling Matte 70# txt. and I am getting wrinkling in the sheets periodically. I checked the rml and xerox tested the stock with only a mottle problem. I think that the sheet is wrinkling at the fuser but am not totally sure of that. The paper came out of a unopened case and I didn't see any defects in the stock when I cut it. The tech that handles our account said that 70# coated is at the bottom end of what can run on the iGEN. The contact arc is set at recomended preassure (14.5mm) and he said there wasn't alot he could do to fix it. It is very intermittent. Anyone else have this problem and if so what fixes, if any, have you foiund? The only solution we have heard is to use only 80# and up coated txt. Thanks everybody!!

Nick,
I haven't ran the 70# gloss text but have heard of others who have tried and had major problems when trying to run it. We typically don't run less than 80# and on occasion, we have had wrinkling occur with the 80# also. I believe from what I have read in Customer Documentation, that the Add-on Teacher Edition Mode feature allows you to print on lighter book weights of stock, but I have no clue on what that feature would cost or if it would solve your issue. You would have to inquire with your sales rep or analyst to see if this would work for your need especially if you are needing to run alot of 70# coated text through your Igen.

We have run into the same problem with 70# coated text stocks. Don't seem to have that problem with uncoated 70# stocks. We try to avoid it as much as possible. We believe it is a moisture problem with the fuser heating the paper up so quickly. If you run small amounts at a time it seems to do better but it does not eliminate the problem. Haven't found a total fix for it. Sorry have seen it but no solution.

Thanks for the info guys. If I find a answer or fix I'll be sure to post it.

70# coated is at the bottom end of what the igen can handle. Good luck. 80# coated is still too light and gives us an unbelieveable amount of grief. Everything from wrinkling to image deletion. The teacher's edition is basically a different pressure roll that can be swapped out when running light-weight coated stocks. We had our tech order one and while this hasn't been a total solution, it has helped tremendously.
