My name is Dana, and Im heading up a new Print / Copy Center. I'm looking for any/all advice you all could give me! We're currently using an average of local competitor pricing for our own- any other ideas?
The only machine we're running right now is a Doc250. I'm used to an Igen3, anyone ever worked on a smaller production unit like the 250?

Though I believe it is important to know your competitions price, I think it is more important to understand your costs first. You need to figure out your absolute cost which then becomes (or atleast should become) a minimum point to develop your pricing. Emphasis on "minimum."

Remember the obvious aspects of cost such as facilities, labor, equipment cost, service costs, overhead (supporting departments, utilities, etc.).

Also, what kind of scoring / folding equiptment do you recomment on the low prive rance-- under 6grand?

My sales rep keeps telling me that when we print full color we have to use suction fed finishing equiptment or it will leave roller marks on the paper(if we used the cheaper friction based!) I have never heard about this..... is it true?

hmmm. under 6k, that is tough. we have used both friction and vacuum feed. both have advantages and disadvantages. i do not think one can say that because it is digital print you cannot use friction feed; however, i suspect that vacuum would most often be better.

scoring is often times necessary even with paper weights that wouldn't normally require it. the pile height of the toner will often emphasize the cracking if scoring is skipped.

I have never gotten a chance to run Doc250.. but i have heard about the working of this machine.. and supposed to use it if i can know some more benefits and features of it..
