This month I put 814,000 on the MP9000, with only one "problem" service call. Other than changing feed tires and 1 PM, I had a trouble free month!!! I was a little weary about this machine after having Canon's for 12 years, but I wouldn't hesitate to get a second.

My service call was due to a gate on the duplex unit that formed a groove and created a bent corner at random on the duplex.

With 1,314,000 so far, the only major issue has been the GBC punch, but they seem to have fixed that with a larger punch motor, I have just under 500,000 cycles on it now.

Just rolled over 4 million, I'm liking this machine!

I've got 1.75 million cycles on the GBC punch with the same die-set.

Hi Craig. I'm a production printing systems engineer at Ricoh and I'm glad to hear about the positive experience you're having with your MP9000. I would love to learn more about your applications and about your workflow. Feel free to respond here if you wish or to my work email: mark.decker@ricoh-usa.com. I don't actually sell for Ricoh but I do provide pre-sales support and am always interested in hearing biggrin.gif about real customer's experiences, both good and bad, vs. what marketing says!

Hi Mark, glad to see someone from one of the "Other Hardware" brands biggrin.gif

We leased the MP9000 for the main purpose of running a catalog we are contracted to print. We took delivery in late December 06. After a few weeks of "playing" with it we were more than pleased with the quality of both text and halftones when printing at 1200dpi. we even pulled B/W jobs off the press to run them on the Ricoh. Our monthly volume ranges anywhere from 260K to a high (so far) of 814K/month.

The catalog will consist of approx 4.2 million prints 8.5 x 11 duplexed, with a 44 hole GBC punch printed on 60lb Lynx Opaque. The catalog is about 450 pages with hundreds of halftones and screens. We update the catalog every quarter and send the InDesign file to the document server and run prints from there.

The only major issue we've had was with the punch, but GBC solved that with a prototype motor and it has run non stop since. Other pesky problems occure with the duplex unit. We've had to have the gate that flips the sheet replaced about every 1 million prints due to wearing groves in it. Other than that it's just normal PM's and feed tires!

One job that stands out is a brochure we were printing on our 2 color offset. It consisted of a 3 color front (Red, Blue and Black) and 2 color (Red, Blue) back. The customer had a very tight 24hr deadline so I ran the black on the Ricoh and the pressman trapped the red and blue to it. It ran flawlessly in perfect registration and the large black halftones on it were excellent!

Like I said, I love this machine!
