Using a DocuTech 6135 to print CMS-1500 forms (aka HCFA-1500). These forms are preprinted (shades of red for OCR) with lines and boxes that have to be filled in. I'm having trouble keeping the data within the boundary of the boxes. I can adjust the VIPP code to center the X's and dollar/cents values until they print just fine, later runs of the data are off an 8th inch or more in either direction. Biggest problem is when a dollar value goes into the cents position, that's what we get paid. ie $ 235.85 would end up being $ 23.85 because of the skew, again the forms are read via OCR machines which only care about data in the specified fields. I've hassled the Xerox Techs and they adjust the skew, but it just keeps happening. Finally they showed me a grid sample, pointing out their "acceptable skew factor" which of course is beyond the boundaries. I'm just wondering if there are other people out there printing data on preprinted forms and how you avoid these skew issues.
