Full Version: NexPress and XMPIE's UDirect?

Hello, am new here to the board. We have a Kodak NexPress 2500, installed early December 2006, and want to see what other software that creates VDX files is compatible with NexPress. We now do variable data jobs with Fusion Pro but want to maybe do image personalization. I downloaded an XMPIE UDirect demo (Apple, InDesign CS, plugin) but my output to a VDX file looks bad in Acrobat with the FusionPro VDX viewer! Is XMPIE output not compatible and do we need to install extra plugins in Acrobat to have it understand XMPIE vdx files? Output to PDF from UDirect works fine but naturally you don't have the benefits of vdx (Small size file, faster ripping). Anyone?

are you talking about the image manipulation that applications such as direct type and direct smile do?

I would like to know if the VDX file that XMPIE creates is compatible. And yes, we would like to look into DirectType/Direct smile also but those images created can also be loaded/used in FusionPro.

As for VDX. Darwin VDX is compatible with Nexpress but you cannot use the 5th color. A 5th color in a Darwin VDX will basically error on the rip and any (ANY!) job after doesn't run. Only a full restart will then help.

We do 95% of our Variable Data with XMPie, the other 5% is Pageflex. We rarely run into a problem with VDX from XMPie, and never had a problem we couldn't fix and still use XMPie.
