Has anyone any experience with the Canon ImagePress C7000VP (70 p/m) or ImagePress C1 (14 p/m)?

The C7000VP has really impressive specifications, but my personal experience with Canon CLC has made me wondering how good it really is.

I've seen the C1 in production and the quality was impressive, maybe they finally have something that can compete with Xerox Docucolor/iGen and others with this new ImagePress series.

The last I heard the ImagePress C7000VP is delayed until 2nd quarter 2007, but the C1 can be delivered now.

The last I have heard the delay in the 7000 was due to it not being able to run some of the "approved" stocks at rated speed. I have seen some images from it that looked VERY NICE! From what our service tech (he works on our CLC4000) is saying about the C1 and what he has heard from the 7000, they are completely different that the CLC's. I will know more next week, he is going through the training on the C1 this week.

My Canon sales person doesn't have any firm pricing but has heard $250,000 to $300,000 (US Dollars). He also stated that Canon might be comming out with something in between the C1 and the 7000, maybe 30 to 50 p/m.

hi ,
Yesterday ı was training on the C1 and ıt is very impressive . ImagePress C7000VP is delayed until 2nd quarter 2007 with only EFİ rip. I asked to canon color product manager what C1 color consistent is . he answered color gamut is always in delta 2

Ask the Canon color product manager to put that in writing.

He won't. And that will tell all.

Funny, delta 2... I'd put that in writing, since it isn't specific to anything. The gamut is always going to be the gamut... It is how consistent it will be over time for colors not the gamut. Plus the important unit of measure would be a delta-E CMC of 2 for any color sheet to sheet, run to run. If they put that in writing and everytime it was over 2 delta-E CMC, I get a month of free clicks, then it might be worth it.

I'd be interested even if just every job that did not meet that standard would be free. In the end, I would not pay a dime.

From my experience they won't put ANYTHING in writing other than the lease terms!

I couldn't get a regional Canon service manager or sales manager (they were at my shop 4 times) to admit that my CLC4000 was junk. Even though the company handling my sales/service (Gordon Flesch) had lost more than $20,000.00 in parts and labor in nine months. The only way I got any action was when Gordon Flesch threatened not to sell any CLC's until they took care of me. Later I found out they shipped my old CLC to New York where Canon stripped it appart and found that it wasn't assembled correctly from the factory ohmy.gif !

Needless to say I won't see anymore new Canon equipment in my shop anytime soon.
