We will have a Ricoh MP9000 installed on Dec. 12, we are getting it for a job that will be 4.2 million impressions for the year.
After getting prices on Canon ImageRunner 7095 and a Xerox 4110, I decided on the Ricoh. I went to a school system that is running 3 MP's that were installed a month before my visit and they each had over 2 million on them. They are getting about 500,000 between service calls.
We are getting everything but the saddle stitcher (we have an off line bookletmaker), the job we will run will require a GBC punch as well which was another selling point for the Ricoh.

Well we are a few weeks into the install and everything has run flawless except for the GBC Stream Punch. It appears that we have a bad die set. After about 10,000 punches the die is hanging up during the punching, which in turn causes a jam. So I am waiting on a new die set to see if that solves the problem.
Other than that I am very pleased with it so far. We just ran a job that had 17 color pages inserted in 15 different locations through a 250 page book. I ran the inserts on our Canon CLC4000, which were collated and stacked, added them to the interposer trays for insertion. It was flawless, I was concerned about double feeding but had none through the 524 set run.
Just wanted to give you a quick review, so far I am liking the MP9000!

Congrats on the new equipment.
Wow, nice mixed job. I am glad it ran well, how often were you having to load the interposer tray? How long did it take using the machine to handle 250+ for every 15 pages printed? Did it cause the machine to slow down with extra fuser heating cycles or machine cycle downs?

There wasn't a noticeable slow down at all. The run time for each book was about 2.5 min. As far as loading the interposer tray's I would load them whenever I unloaded the finisher, about every 2500 to 3000 sheets.
The only complaint I have is with the GBC Stream Punch. It is specked to punch 80lb cover, the job I am running right now has a front/back cover printed on 80lb coated (216gsm). It seems to be killing the die set (44 hole colorcoil). We are waiting to here back from a Ricoh/GBC meeting today.

According to GBC they are admitting that they are having trouble with the 44 hole ColorCoil Die Sets. It seems they are not going to punch to their specifications of 80lb cover. Right now it looks as if I will have to manually punch the covers and have the inline puncher do the insides. Manually punching 12,000 vs 2.1 million is still a pretty good option.

i agree that 12,000 vs. 2.1mil manually is better; however, it sure is frustrating when vendors cannot meet the expectations a piece of equipment was sold under!

I agree, if they publish specs., they need to make sure they can back them up! GBC had asked if I could switch to a 19 hole punch, evedently they feel that die will hold up better, not going to happen. Thankfully Ricoh and my rep is holding up their end.
