Full Version: Letterhead Question

Does anyone print digital color letterhead that is run on a laser printer by the customer? I am concerned about re-fusing issues.

I am strongly thinking about dumping our offset production and going all digital, although I could job out the letterhead... we are a union shop (don't hold it against me, only did it to make our customers happy) and some stuff needs that stupid bug.

Thanks

Xerox will tell you specifically: (a) don't do that, it'll cause problems, and (cool.gif they don't support it, period, and © if you really want to do that, test it first because--again--it'll cause problems.

That just confirmed our current practices, just wanted to see how others felt on this as well.

Thanks

Craig,

I think it is best to avoid digital printing of pieces designed to be run through a laser print. I have conducted tests and with anything the results are always mixed. In nearly all cases a secondary laser process effected the color and quality of the form.

When run rarely through a smaller laser printer no noticeable damage occured on the laser printer; however, probably not the best thing to risk long term. Most importantly avoid print shells and letterhead digitally for later running digital overprint! That will always result in problems.

Best of luck to you.

Thanks John, again that confirmed my thoughts as well.
