I'm curious as to how people are charge to set up such services.. My comany tends to take the Set it up for free with the hopes of providing print down the road. I have heard others say that you have to charge for it. I personally think that if your going to give away the set up that there should be a contract of committment on the customers part. I see mega hours spent on something that the customer could pull the plug on at any given moment. What are you doing to recoop the cost or to protect yourself??

Thanks!

Dale,

I think you are absolutely right. If you are going to give it away for free it must be because of a contractual obligation on the part of the customer to give you x amount of work through that custom solution. Typically customers would rather guarantee work that pay upfront costs. I agree though, I would not develop custom simple or complex web solutions without payment or contractual guarantee of work.
