I would like to hear suggestions for skewing problems and things people have tried.Keep in mind that i have already done the iop and also have had a tech working on this for about 8 weeks now. But we have had no results as of yet. This has been a big problem since the day the igen was installed. It does not matter what paper you use xerox or otherwise. I have also been told that you have a 1.7 mil window to go by and it is consideried backed up within these specs.I have never yet been able to get a 2 sided job to back up right yet. This is my first post here and want to try this and see what happens. Thanks Mike

Are you placing your paper on reams to boost it up at all? We recently had a lot of skewing issues on 14.33x20.5 paper and the problem seems to have mostly been us putting 11x17 reams under the paper when we were running smaller amounts (this way we didn't have to fill the entire tray with paper). I had our bindery make up some cardboard boosters at 14x20 and about 2 inches thick and we've had a lot more luck since. The IOP also helped quite a bit. Not sure if this will help you at all, but it's a thought at least.

What size of stock or stocks are you having the problem on? Is it all sizes?

No we really dont do that much but if we do we use the same size paper that we are running.

Yes we are having this problem on all size paper and with xerox stock and without also. But it does seem somewhat better with the xerox stock. It seems real strange that i have not heard of alot of people having this big a problem with skewing.Again like i said before techs have been working very hard on this with the people in new york. But they still seem not to be able to solve the problem as of yet.

We only really had one instance that the skewing was an issue and It ended up being a bad motor if I remember correctly. On some stocks there is a slight skew but well within my tolorances and I would think yours too. Text weight is almost perfect all the time, it's the cover stocks that are slightly off. The skew problem I had was like 1/16" to like 1/4" when I did have the problem...

We have found sometimes if the image is slightly skewed, rotating the image 180 degrees will pull it the rest of the way into register. But, I'm with Dale on having them check the registration transport motors to insure they are working properly - slight hesitation on speed variance can greatly affect the skew of the printed piece. I heard one of our area's newer Igen's had this problem shortly after install.

We have two iGens and both have had this issue. One more than the other. Usually when we have skew we can not fix with the iop we have to have our technician come in and clean the sensors under the registration platen glass. They tend to get residue build up quite frequently. One of our machines has a constant skew but it within our tolerance. You may also want to have your tech check the placement of your feeder module connected directly to the print engine. When they installed our second machine it wasn't quite aligned correctly and caused big skew problems especially on the larger sheets. Hopefully some of this helps. Let us know what actually fixes the problem.
