We have been using a Fiery 6000 frontend with a Xerox 2060. On our monochrome Xerox 4635 we are able to use background forms with a reference in Postscript at the beginning of each page. There is no limit (as far as I know) as to the number of forms used on one page. This is made possible by using the "Decomposition Service" on the Xerox LPS/NPS frontend. On the Fiery, you can only use one "Master" as a background form.
Does anyone have any experience with any of the frontends for the Xerox 2060 or 6060 where they have been able to reference the background form in their variable data stream? Is there some way with the Fiery that we can bypass the one "Master" limit? Does the DocuSP have the ability to "decompose" forms like the LPS/NPS? What about Creo, does it allow for using more than one background form at a time?
The type of work we do requires us to be able to print different letter versions with different signatures (and positions of signatures) as well as different logos on the letterhead; therefore, we would like to be able to print the logos, signatures and letter text as separate forms to the RIP, pre-rip them and be able to "call" them when we merge our variable data depending on the information in our database fields. I don't understand why the new technology can't do what 10 year old technology is able to do :-(
Any ideas?
