Anyone getting into JDF? Is it time to add a forum for it?

My exposure to it has been limited; however, everything I have seen so far has been interesting and encouraging.

Yes, I use it. Several vendors I use require it. Seems to have been very well thought out, though I don't push the boundaries beyond general order details - trim size, quantity, addres, and ship method.

wow, several vendors are actually requiring it? Any exceptions or work arounds?

Not yet, seems fine. My only advice is to request a real-world sample file, and use that for implementation on your end. Also, coding XML programatically, while cool, is a massive time sink. Just use raw strings if you can. Also helps not to be the first customer to blaze the trail for the vendor.

I am intreged that you are use it. Can you be a little more specific on what your workflow is and how and when it is used.. I veiw JDF as What PDF was 6 years ago, and from what I have seen it has a way to go though I do think it is the future and will be the norm some years down the road...

Thanks!!

Our shop has a HP Indigo 3050 with the dual proc HP ProductionFlow rip and the current workflow is to use hotfloders to rip for impositions and then send to printer. I'm wondering if any users are using the productionflow manager with jdf getting and sending back information on impositions , stock, amount of actual printed sheets and other job details to the press and to MIS systems.

This does not only have to apply to the indigo would like to know how others are using jdf or looking to use it,
