Hi all, this is my first post!

We have an igen3 and have recently started imaging posters with large areas of flat tinted color- for example a 14 x 20 that's mainly a light blue with some text. The problem is banding and uneven toner deposition running parallel to the paper path. We clean all the wires, and around the developer housing and rollers, run the developer recovery in the job exerciser but it makes only a marginal improvement. The actual developer is still fresh. Any ideas?

Needs calibrated by tech. I think it's called the 314 or 351 calibration?? That if you are talking the length of the sheet Bands.. There is an know problem with Magenta banding the inboard to outboard that they still have not fixed but are working on it. You would probably only notice it in a blue color such as a sky...

Thanks. It may be the Magenta problem you mentioned. I've looked at the output and the uneveness seems to be in the magenta. A Xerox tech will have to look at it- of course the reason I didn't ask them first is we have the first igen in our part of the country and the local techs can't fix it much better than us.

I have a couple of the best techs around. They have been working on Igen for 4 years now. If your techs need help maybe I can have them call my techs??

Good luck, let me know how you make out..

Not sure how bad the banding is, but this issue is inherent with light halftone / tints on the igen. The halftones / tints will show the igen's weakness, which are tints / halftones of solid color over a large section of print that do not have any graphic interuptions that distract visually the defect.
I also have issues with inboard to outboard consistency, in particular with magenta. There is a routine the tech's can run but your machine has to be in top form with its parts and dev. and it takes a few hours to complete.
I use 150 lpi with some image noise. It helps some but will not resolve the issue.
Streching the wire mods. help with streaking. There is a bulletin you can find to show you this routine.

Happy New Year
