We are looking into a new digital color press to move our offset postcard work to. I'd love some feedback from those using these products and any input to help.

Those printing postcards - are they mail-ready quality off press or do you UV coat?

Wow, this topic has been covered quite a bit. Read some of the iGen3 forum posts for info on the iGen3.

Nexpress, well we do a lot of postcard mailings, no UV, all either straight 4 color or with the clear toner and gloss.

It's an extra step to gloss, but well worth it.

As with all digital work if I were you id get some samples done on each press and get them finished to there final stage before mailing.

I saw a peice of kit with a nex press that glosses the paper - very effective.

Igen's have tint issues where as indigo's dont although igen's produce a brighter image due to the toner.

Toner is toner at the end of the day whether in powder or in HP electroink paste/liquid form.

We have HP indigo's and aswell as the other mentioned presses they will all deliver a quality printed sheet the main problem is finishing requirements.

As for an answer to "ready to post" the answer is yes they are ready to post straight off of the press (except for cutting) all depends on how the finished artical reaches the client, there are so many variables uv coat/laminate/seal/poly bag..etc

We for best results laminate them or if you have a small offset press you could seal them before finishing/posting but this all add's to cost

Indigo all the way - well I would say that though wouldn't I.
