We are currently having issues setting up background forms for production use. We are trying to save a book and add an identifier to the bottom of each page. The identifier is what we are needig to save as the background form. The book takes around 40 minutes to rip per book. The only difference between the books is the identifier. The problem we are running into now is the background form is not visible when using a saved job, but is visbile when going from rip to print. My question is there a way to add background forms to a saved file or can you only add a background form to a file that has not been saved.
Thanks,
J

What are you using for creating the "forms"?
I'd suggest you either look at VIPP (or whatever its called now from Xerox) if you are a coder, or look at FusionPro from Printable to do what you want in Acrobat.
What Front End are you running on your iGen3?

We use InDesign to make the background form export it to a pdf. The background form is just a number that appears on all the pages. We are using the DocuSP as are front end. From the DocuSP we are trying to utilize the background form feature.

Try saving your PDF's as Postscript or EPS. Most likely the delay in rip speed is the decomposing of the PDF to postscript, since the DocuSP is not a native PDF Print Engine.

Thanks for the advice. We were able reduce the time by atleast 5 minutes. We also had AA enabled and after disabling we were able to get rip time down to 10 minutes from 30.
